Tracking when software is installed

Every so often I will see someone complain about how Windows lacks a feature that Install Monitor has. For instance, commenter Dalibor Čarapić makes the following complaint about the Windows 10 Programs and Features: “Every time a Windows update is installed a bunch of my installed application look like they were installed at that time. Why not just keep the same date when the installation program was run and do not touch it?”

Well that is exactly what Install Monitor does. When you install new programs, it tracks not only the actual install date but the time as well. I’ve previously discussed this in a blog entry before. This makes it trivially easy to see when a program is installed. Tracking the time particularly helps to see the order when multiples programs are installed around the same time.
